Preschool

The Saint Joseph Parish Preschool program prepares children ages 3 - 5 years, for kindergarten in a play-based environment with age-appropriate curriculum.  We offer a Catholic environment for children that is focused on creativity, enhanced learning and development.  Our unique scheduling option allows families to choose the number of days their child attends preschool.

Our preschool program lets children direct many of their own activities, as well as opportunities to effectively work with their peers.  Each classroom has interest learning centers that provide opportunities for the children to practice skills enhancing all areas of development.

Our Mission, Goal and Philosophy

Mission

Saint Joseph Parish Preschool, a diocesan Roman Catholic school, is a ministry of Saint Joseph Parish.  In order to assist parents in their role as primary educators of their children, Saint Joseph Parish Preschool calls forth the unique potential of the whole person:  body, mind, and spirit.  In an atmosphere inspired by the Gospel message, Saint Joseph Parish Preschool fosters self-discipline and respect, while striving for academic excellence.  By emphasizing Catholic teachings, the preschool promotes the development of a responsible Christian way of life and strives to prepare each student to meet the challenges of the world.

Goal

  • Helping the child to grow through…

    • Problem-solving, creating, manipulating, exploring and experimenting in the preschool learning environment

    • Teaching Assisting in understanding how they are a part of God's creation

    • Focusing on Christian values and building on these first steps in each class community

    • Daily prayer and service to others

Philosophy

Our philosophy supports inquiry-based learning in a play environment using the Creative Curriculum. This includes Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards set forth by the Ohio Department of Education and the Catholic Diocese Preschool Curriculum Content Standards.
