3RD and 4TH GRADE PARENTS!!!
POSITIVE DIRECTION 2012 NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!

It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again!  POSITIVE DIRECTION is a week- long program for our 7th and 8th grade students that helps them to establish positive choices in their lives, and encourages them to set and reach their goals.  Traditionally, each grade at St. JosephSchoolcontributes in some way to this program, offering their full support to our 7th and 8th grade students.

We are asking each 3rd and 4th grade family to donate a dessert for our carbo-loading dinner which will be held on Thursday, May 3.  Please bring the dessert to the west campus Banquet Hall kitchen on Thursday, May 3rd, no later than 3pm.  Disposable containers are appreciated.

(We will be serving approx. 450 people)
THANK YOU, in advance, for all your support.  This wonderful program would not be a success without the help of ALLour families!!!

Positive Direction Kick-Off Results

On Thursday, March 8, the 26th year of Positive Direction officially began with its annual kick-off. We are thrilled to report that close to 30 of our St. Joseph alumni high school students returned to celebrate with our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

Our assembly began with the announcement of the winning t-shirt design. Chandler Riley, an 8th grader, is this year’s winner. As her name was announced, our enthusiastic St. Joseph alumni students burst into the gym wearing the winning design, “Listen to your Heart, for it’s the Soundtrack of your Life.”

Students were then given an essay assignment and prompt: “Pick one or two lines from a song that inspire you in a positive direction. Explain why these words would make a soundtrack worth listening to for your whole life. What kind of positive guidance do they give you, and how do they speak to your heart?”

And finally, a truly special video presentation produced by our very own St. Joseph alumni students, Teachers, Staff, and Parish Priests was a perfect ending to an awesome Positive Direction Kick-Off!

Congratulations, Chandler Riley!

2012 Positive Direction Best Foot Forward – Run conditioning help needed

Dear Parents,
Please join us in supervising the 7th and 8th grade students as they train for the annual Positive Direction Best Foot Forward 5k/3k.  This volunteer request comes to you separate from the other Positive Direction requests for volunteers so that we can give you more details about what is needed; and to stress the sheer number of volunteers needed to make our run conditioning go as smoothly as possible for the safety of our students.  The run conditioning alone requires 6 – 9 volunteers for each 7th and 8th grade gym class from March 19, to April 30.  That’s over 50 volunteers each week, for 7 weeks.  So, whether you are already volunteering on a Positive Direction activity, or not, we need your help! This is a great way for parents – moms or dads – to come out and support these kids throughout the Positive Direction process, and not just during Positive Direction W eek.
