Why SJPS:

Ever since my time being on campus at SJPS, I have felt at home! The staff and administration have continued support me and inspire me to be the best educator possible throughout my journey here.

Background:

Bachelors in Middle Childhood Education with a focus on Math and Science from the University of Toledo. This is my 10th year teaching. I've taught 7 years at Hope Learning Academy (5th-8th grade math and 5th grade science) and 2 years at Springfield Middle School (6th grade math).

Why SJPS:

I grew up going to a private Lutheran school and always felt that I would become a teacher at a private religious school. I always felt something was missing when I was teaching at a charter school or a public school, and I feel that missing piece was God. I love being able to share my faith with my students and fellow staff members. This is my first year at SJPS and I absolutely love it here!

Mary Jo Jacoby, 7.1MJ

Background:

Bachelor in Education, The University of Toledo

Prior to obtaining her degree, Mrs. Jacoby spent four years of active duty in the United States, Navy where she served in Rota, Spain as a cryptologic technician. Mrs. Jacoby has been teaching 7th grade for over 28 years.Mrs. Jacoby enjoys spending time with family and friends when she’s not in school, as well as reading and attending any sort of musical or theater productions.

Why SJPS:

I love my job for many reasons, but mostly because it allows me the opportunity to positively influence the lives of young people.

Jessica Jones, 7.2JJ

Background:

Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education with a concentration in Math and Science - Bowling Green State University

Additional Certifications: Master Teacher Certification for State of Ohio; Certification in Religion; Harvard Business - Catholic Diocese of Toledo Principal Leadership Program

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Jones enjoys spending time watching her two children, Emma, and Jack in their various sporting activities. They also enjoy skiing trips in the winter. Mrs. Jones is a 2017 Golden Apple Award Recipient!

Why SJPS:

I was hired in 2003 and cannot imagine teaching anywhere else. Middle school students offer a unique perspective on concepts and current events. Being able to pray with my class and share our faith is one of the many reasons why I love teaching at a Catholic school. I am blessed to be able to call SPJS home and grateful that I was able to have my daughter and son be part of this amazing community.

I love teaching, particularly at Saint Joseph Parish School, because I feel like the students are eager to learn which makes my job so much easier!

Cathy Steirer, 8.2S

Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education – The University of ToledoMrs. Steirer has had the pleasure of teaching at Saint Joseph School for over 26 years. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and reading.

I have enjoyed the special faith-filled environment here at Saint Joseph School. Sharing the importance of living a faith-filled life and helping students grow in their own faith has been the pleasure of my teaching career.

Mandy Seymour , Theology

Background:

Bachelors degree in Psychology from Kent State, Masters Degree and Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology from University of Toledo. I've worked in Catholic Schools for nearly 20 years as a School Psychologist, Learning Specialist and now a Religion Teacher!

Why SJPS:

When we moved back to Ohio from Minnesota in 2022 we were looking for the best school in the area for our 8th grade son and landed at SJPS. I've been blessed to work here since then.

I chose SJPS because I wanted to teach/work in a place that allowed me to live my faith and teach our Catholic beliefs and values.
