Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Jones enjoys spending time watching her two children, Emma, and Jack in their various sporting activities. They also enjoy skiing trips in the winter. Mrs. Jones is a 2017 Golden Apple Award Recipient!

“I was hired in 2003 and cannot imagine teaching anywhere else. Middle school students offer a unique perspective on concepts and current events. Being able to pray with my class and share our faith is one of the many reasons why I love teaching at a Catholic school. I am blessed to be able to call SJS home and thrilled to have my daughter and son be part of this amazing community.”

Mrs. Steirer has had the pleasure of teaching at Saint Joseph School for 26 years. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and reading.

Prior to obtaining her degree, Mrs. Jacoby spent four years of active duty in the United States, Navy where she served in Rota, Spain as a cryptologic technician. Mrs. Jacoby has been teaching 7th grade for over 28 years.
Mrs. Jacoby enjoys spending time with family and friends when she’s not in school, as well as reading and attending any sort of musical or theater productions.

Education: Bachelor’s in Education (K-8) - Bowling Green State University
Mrs. Kulka began her journey at Saint Joseph in 1990 as a "near full time" substitute for about 5 years. In 1995 along with Mrs. Sally Koppinger, former Principal, she designed and implemented the teaching assistant position to serve the nearly 800 students that were enrolled at the time. From 1995 through 1998 she enjoyed her experience working beside the teachers of first, second, and third grade. In 1998 she joined Mrs. Steirer as a 6th grade teaching partner. They enjoyed 21 years of service together. During that time her own four children were faithfully guided by the loving teachers at Saint Joseph; two of those children went on to become educators and now administrators of their own schools.
When she is not with her students she always looks forward to time with her own children and grandchildren!

Math and Science Teacher

Mrs. Hickey has been teaching for 28 years Catholic Schools and loves to fish, read, travel, knit, and see her children.

Theology Teacher and Youth Minister
Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in Theological Studies - Lourdes University with a Minor in Psychology, and I also earned a High School Religion Education Certificate.
I enjoy to exercise, (either running or wrestling), I like Pokemon, I love to wear crazy socks and ties, and my faith in God and the Catholic Church has always been the backbone/cornerstone that brings my life peace and stability.
While this may be my first year actually teaching a full school year, once I began my student teaching at Notre Dame Academy, I instantly knew that teaching and sharing the love of God to the younger generation is what God has called me to do with my life!
While my experience with St. Joseph's is short, I have received nothing but a heart-felt welcoming environment that strives for a loving and holistic community!

Mr. Laberdee has been at Saint Joseph School for 13 years, prior to that, he worked at St. Pius X school. He was married here at St. Joseph Church, in 1991. As a child, his wife was actually a student here.

“I want to encourage students to be physically active in all aspects of life and to be positive as well as healthy. I hope all students, no matter what their experience, will always try an activity with the attitude of doing their best.”
Technology Integration and STEM
Education: Heidelberg University, BS in Biology; The University of Toledo, M.Ed in Secondary Science
Continuing Education Experience: LEADERS Program: Trained in Project-Based Learning and 21st Century Skills; SATELLITES Summer Program: Trained in GeoSpatial Technologies; Many classes in the area of technology, especially the use of iPads in the classroom, Participated in graduate classes learning about differentiated learning and co-teaching techniques. My latest education endeavors include learning about 3D printing in order to expose our students to this technology.
When not at school Mrs. Mallory is a Catholic Youth Organization (Girls’ Basketball Coach), Girl Scouts of Western Ohio Leader, Saint Joseph Parish Eucharistic Minister, and Kingston Care Facility Eucharistic Minister.
Interesting Fact About Mrs. Mallory:
“I went on a medical mission trip to Guatemala with a group called SewHope. My husband traveled with me. All four of our children have done these missions as well. I have held a few positions such as working at University Hospitals in Cleveland and Toledo Hospital. I taught at BGSU for nine years before deciding to become a middle school to high school teacher. I took classes at Lourdes University to be able to apply for a teaching license.

“After many professional positions, St. Joseph School is where I was meant to be.” After 15 years, I really still enjoy coming to work because of the students and faculty.”
