Education: Bowling Green State University

Continuing Education Experience:

Interesting Fact About Mrs. Kulka: “I am a Michigan fan no matter how much Msgr. Metzger razzes me!”

Education: The University of Toledo (Bachelor’s degree in early childhood with a concentration in language arts)

Background: 6th Grade Teacher at St. Joseph School since 1990.  “I have always taught 6th grade at St. Joe’s.  I chose to teach at a Catholic school after being a substitute teacher in other school districts and realizing that sharing my faith with others was an important choice in my life.  I became a teacher because I was inspired by a few special elementary teachers from my own career.”

Interesting Fact: High School students involved with the Sylvania Northview High School football program were recently asked to nominate a teacher who has made a difference in their life.  Mrs. Steirer was nominated by SJS grad Danny Schweickert and honored at a Northview football game.  Congratulations Mrs. Steirer!

Education: University of Toledo (B.A, cum laude, Elementary Education with a concentration in science)

Certifications:  Certified to teach all subjects in grades 1 - 8; Reading Endorsement for grades kindergarten - 12

Background: Formerly taught students in kindergarten, first,  third and fifth grades.  In addition, over six years experience teaching remedial reading in all grades kindergarten through sixth.   “I feel so blessed to be teaching sixth grade at St. Joseph School.  When I started my career, I was lucky enough to work in a parochial school and I am so very fortunate to now be working in the same school as my parish.”

Interesting Fact: Mrs. Koppinger was Mrs. Schell’s eighth grade math teacher.

Education/Degree: Bowling Green State University (B.S., Middle Childhood Education with a concentration in Math and Science)

“I was hired in 2002 and cannot imagine teaching anywhere else.   I am thrilled to have my daughter and son be part of this amazing community.”
